k.i.s.s.
the k.i.s.s. principle feels appropriate now that it's time to update my school uniform to something better suited for the cold weather. in an effort to keep things extremely uncomplicated it's just going to be a black cashmere sweater instead of (or maybe over!) my go-to white poplin blouses. light distressed denim is still a constant. you can find great sweaters at everlane, halogen, ayr and white + warren to pair with jeans from ag or citizens of humanity. richly textured slides from tabitha simmons or jenni kayne would make it easy to run right out the door. spice things up this everyday look with a printed handbag- the camo tote from parker thatch is especially fun.

fashion emergency
it's a fashion emergency of the good kind. shopbop is having their semi-annual sale and now's the time to load up your cart with all the pieces you've been needing or just plain wanting. the more you spend, the more you save so fill 'er up! it can be a bit overwhelming to sort through the gazillion options so i thought i'd share a few of my favorite things-- this luxe faux fur by otto d'ame, fresh denim from frame and rachel comey, cozy sweaters from vince or free people, this colorful cross-body bag by manu atelier, striking stone earrings from lizzie fortunato, sherpa-lined high tops from superga and this date night ready top by robert rodriguez. don't wait, 20% off orders under $500 and 25% off orders over $500 ends friday night, use code: EOTS17

go army
lately i haven't been able to resist the look of a camo overshirt. with camo's inherent ability to blend in you can mix and match it endlessly with black, white, denim and even stripes and as the weather unexpectedly warms up/cools down a light-weight overshirt couldn't be more practical. march into fall with one of these great options from alpha industries, l'agence, gap, levi's or harvey faircloth.

pinking of fall
an unexpected color has been cropping up in street style photos from outside of the new york fashion week spring/summer 2018 presentations. i wouldn't necessarily have thought of pink as part of the fall color palate, but i guess it's time to reconsider that thought. the dusty pink floral frock below is particularly appealing as it's something that can come in handy this season and again in the spring. that's my kind of 'now and later' ensemble...

school uniform
i didn't ever appreciate the ease of a school uniform throughout my childhood, but now as i struggle to get out the door looking reasonably well assembled each morning i'm really digging the idea of a simple go-to look. i'm pretty sure it couldn't be easier than a crisp white shirt and blue jeans. you might think white shirts aren't practical, but trust me they can be. be sure to select ones that are machine washable (who wants to deal with dry cleaning anyway), add a dash of bleach to the wash if it gets stained and touch it up with a hot iron after it comes out of the dryer for an extra polished look. i've found several great options at ayr, anthropologie, ann taylor, nili lotan, and i already have this and this on repeat.
